Hulu…Who knew?!
I’ve been a huge fan of dvr for years. I record about 10-12 tv shows a week, plus movies. It’s never convenient for me to sit down and watch the shows/movies live during the week. I’m becoming more and more intrigued, however, by Hulu. I’ve yet to explore it, so I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’ve heard very little about it from my peers, but have seen numerous commercials for it. I decided to do a little research and found a few sites of interest if you’re thinking of switching from dvr. Here are a few reasons I’m swayed to switch:
- Hulu is free!
- I am sure to see the whole show. Sometimes my dvr cuts off the last couple of minutes.
- From my research, it sounds like there are few interruptions.
- I don’t have to worry with programming any recordings or managing conflicts.
I’m excited to see if this will help save me some money! Please leave some feedback!

A recent news release stated that Hulu was going to lose content from some of the networks, who see it as taking eyeballs away from their broadcasts. Hulu is owned by NBC, so they will likely continue to offer content. Maybe not so much from ABC, CBS and Fox.
It’s still a great site for old shows and movies, however.
I am forever indebted to Hulu for allowing me to discover and watch all 3 seasons of Arrested Development my sophomore year of college. Although my grades probably suffered a bit, I was ecstatic. I <3 Hulu.
I love the peace of mind that Hulu gives. I’m an Office addict and it’s cool to know that if I miss the show, (it’s on tonight btw) than it’s not a big deal. The only issue with Hulu I’ve ever come across is that if your internet isn’t fast it’s almost unbearable to go through pause after pause while the show buffers. If you have good internet though, it’s great.
I got to the point where I wouldn’t even bother staying up or going out of my way to be in front of a tv just to watch shows like 24, The Office, Family Guy, Celebrity Apprentice, etc. because I knew that I could watch them the next during sometime for free and at my leisure.
The biggest perk for me is that there are only 30 second commercial breaks a few times during the episode instead of 2-3 minute breaks multiple times per episode on Hulu. This makes it much more enjoyable and doesn’t take as long! I watch a majority of my shows on Hulu, and have found new shows that I’ve really enjoyed that I wouldn’t have found elsewhere.
I love HULU!!! Not being a DRV person I get all the benefits, plus I don’t have to worry about programming. Just go to Hulu and it’s all there!!!
